"Friends? No, that's six letters. Aha, Frasier!" Guess I lucked out on that one, also by guessing Phoenix for the capitals and getting the constellation. Since someone failed at counting letters and mentioned Imperio in the comments to the 6-letter blitz, I held off on using that and thought of a different one =)

I got credit for English monarchs with Victoria, but I realized after that it's actually eight letters.

Patella (or knee cap, for that matter) should be accepted for human bones.

I struggled with the time on this one, for some reason. There were a couple of categories I didn't get around to, though I'm usually good at budgeting time if I can't think of certain answers.

Small point but it's the Premier League, not the Premiere League. Why is it so much harder to count to 7 than to 4/5 under the pressure of a timed quiz? I did the earlier quizzes quite methodically but this one I kept finding myself just guessing medium-ish length words rather than actually checking if they had 7 letters.

marimba and tomtoms should be accepted for orchestra instruments. Isn't a pitbull a breed of dog, too?

I thought Nunavut should be accepted for Canadian provinces and capitals, but I guess it is not a province but a territory. Not sure though, any Canadians care to explain

@73_99: Technically, pitbull isn't a breed, it's a term used to describe many breeds.

I don't know why, but I kept trying "Minerva" for Olympian goddess...suffice to say, Roman names don't count. @big_sexy: while "hammer", "anvil", and "stirrup" are common names for the bones, the scientific names are "malleus", "incus", and "stapes".

@robzalli No, the constellation is called Scorpius. Several of the zodiac signs have constellations with slightly different names.

You may consider "phalanx" for the bones category. Phalanx is the proper singular of phalanges (finger and toe bones).

I was just about to complain that "Ragtime" wasn't included for Tony Award Winning musicals, but my research tells me that it didn't actually win - it was up against "The Lion King" that year.

I'm sure I'm probably missing some obvious reason this doesn't work, but why isn't cranium allowed as a 7-letter human bone?

@Meltha Actually, the cranium is the name for the set of 14 bones that make up the skull. I just added a bonus answer for that that explains it. Thanks!

@reggierocket Scarlet was added around 2000, when they renamed torch red. You can learn all about the crayola history here at their site:

I had the worst time with the vegetables. Every one I came up with had six letters. Argh! And I was surprised to see that neither Camelot nor Chicago won Best Musical.

I probably wouldn't have gotten constellations if I hadn't put in "Phoenix" for U.S. Capitals. I wouldn't have gotten Tony Best Musicals if I hadn't put in "Titanic" for Oscar Best Pictures. And I wouldn't have gotten Literature Nobelists if I hadn't put "Johnson" for presidents. I guess I got lucky :P

Curse you Sporcle. I was trying to do work today. An 8-letter blitz is pretty much impossible because there are too many answers, and well those words are getting kinda long. So, I finally made this version, and well, let's face it, not many definitive categories have 3-letter words in them. At least it is quick :)
