| In response to darcy's point "Darcy: Its also surprising how many of America's closest allies and neighbours end up on the bottom of this list while so many random countries end up at the top." It makes sense. For NATO countries, their foreign policy is dominated by the USA, so naturally all the bad points about foreign relations are blamed on the US. For example, in the UK, opinions about the USA plummeted after the invasion of Iraq. People saw British soldiers dying, and blame the USA. Then there's the cultural aspect. People see their local fish and chip shop struggling to stay open but the McDonald's down the street is booming. Now, obviously, that's up to the consumer, but, psychologically, it's a lot easier to blame the big bad USA than to blame complex economic factors, and oneself. |
