	Wait, is Ryan Howard REALLY not on this list? I mean, I'm not even a fan- in fact, I'm a Braves fan, so I actively dislike him- but if Ryan Howard wasn't a better player this decade than Corey Koskie, then I am never watching baseball again. As a result, I proclaim this entire list to be invalid.

	Posada has more HR and RBI, better BA, SLG and OPS, basically the same fielding%, better CS% and better PO/Err ratio. Perhaps the list isn't the thing that's retarded.

	The reason Howard isn't on this list is because of when he started in the big leagues; Rob Neyer, who created the list, was asked about it in a ESPN.com chat. One of his responses (he was talking about Justin Morneau as well) was, "They're both first basemen who didn't get started until the middle of the decade. For appearance's sake, maybe I should have wedged them into the bottom of the list anyway."

	LoL, at the ESPN guys methods, he says 6 great seasons over 8 good ones, but then puts J.D. Drew above Miguel Cabrera by a bunch. Not a fan of either but I'd take Miggy's 7 year decade over J.D's full one any day.

	Ryan Howard, runs created: 605. Corey Koskie, runs created since 2000: 524. Take into account that Koskie plays 3B, and I'd say they've put up about equal value in the 2000s. Varitek since 2000 is at 619 RC, coming from a catcher I'd say he definitely deserves to be on here. I'd also expect to see Trevor Hoffman and maybe Billy Wagner.

	Though he has only played three seasons, Tim Lincecum has won two Cy Young awards, which is tied for the second most of any pitcher in the decade. Another feared pitcher of the decade was Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter, and a very strong case could be made for him as well. Also, the reasoning against putting Howard and Morneau on the list, being that they both started in the middle of the decade, would be legitimate if Grady Sizemore wasn't on there. Sizmore is ranked 51st on this list, and he only really played for the second half of the decade. If Sizemore is ranked on this list, then I don't see any good reason why Morneau and Howard shouldn't be ranked even higher, let alone be ranked on there at all.

	After 2000, Griffey really slowed down to above average. I'm in full support that he not be on the list. Though I would like to see Howard, Soriano, and maybe Morneau

	id include either teams or positions, nice job espn on this one tho, this is awful, i love the sox but youkilis and wakefield should not b on this list over some other people, ryan howard? ken griffey? alfonso soriano? and many others

	I think their method for any of these "lists" is to put down all notable current and former Red Sox, Yankees, and Mets they can think of, and just fill in the blanks with the remainder. Everyone's already made the point about Howard, Soriano, and Morneau. I'd like to add Konerko and Dye. And Neyer can cram the "middle of the decade" crap about Howard, because both Youkilis and Hanley didn't play full time until 2006 and there they are.

	Not only is Tim Wakefield listed as a catcher (he's a pitcher), Jim Edmonds is listed as a third baseman. If my memory serves me well, he was always a center fielder. Also, some players could have different positions as well. Thome could be DH, Nomar could be a Shortstop and so on.

	Totally don't get Glavine over Smoltz. Glavine was mediocre in the 2000s, and even though he had to spend a few years closing Smoltz accumulated more value just in the years he was starting than Glavine did the whole decade.

	I find Varitek and Soriano to be the biggest snubs in my mind. For all those arguing Howard and Morneau I suggest you take your RBI-blinders off and think about whether you want half a decade of 1 dimensional sluggers on this list.
