| Unlike those who think the quiz is unfairly skewed towards the last 80 years, I looked at the results and thought, what a difference (in total numbers) it makes when you don't take steps to keep people from voting for Presidential electors based on the voter's color, gender, poverty, illiteracy, residency in Washington, D.C., or age!! I mean, successive Constitutional amendments over the years have added to the total pool of people who are entitled to register to vote in federal elections. Besides which, around the time of Hoover we started having radio/TV advertising (and later, debates), which probably brought more people to the polls. Also, the last few elections have brought massive drives to register voters and keep them informed of their voting rights, so that fewer voters these days (perhaps) get shut out of the election process. So yeah, more candidates these days are getting more votes -- even the losing candidates. |
