	The electoral college is the process that is used to elect a president. Each state has a certain number of votes (total of 538 for all states) and the president needs at least 270 to be declared the winner. This quiz identifies those candidates that got the most of those votes. I believe the total is an accumulation of each time the candidate ran for the presidential ofice.

	Great quiz, soxfan1! I just want to slightly clarify a few things you said in your last post, for those not familiar with the electoral college system. The total number of electoral votes divvied up among the states (and D.C.) is currently 538, but that number isn't set in stone. The formula, as prescribed by the Constitution, (# of senators) + (# of representatives) + (3 for D.C.). Since each state gets 2 senators, the number of senators changes as states get added. Also, the number of representatives in the House is not fixed and has changed several times in the past (although not for a long while). This is why 2/3 of the answers are from the 20th century and on.

	Oh, one other comment: The list might work out different if you were to include electoral votes people got for the VICE-presidency, as well. Al Gore, for instance, would definitely be in the top 20.

	When the Electoral College votes, it votes for President and for Vice-President. It has done so since the 12th Amendment of the Constitution was ratified in 1804.

	SOAR21: William Jennings Bryan lost against McKinley in 1896 by a margin of 271 to 176 in the electoral college. He ran again against McKinley in 1900 and Taft in 1908.

	All those people got fewer than 382 electoral votes when they ran. This is for total votes in all elections. Obama may well crack the top 20 in 2012, but Carter ran twice and he isn't on the list.

	Please include some more explanation in the game notes, especially the fact that one of the answers never became president. Some people may be hesitant to look at the comments for that explanation, since they might also see some of the answers.
