	I think offensive offsides is sufficiently rare that you should count "offsides" as a correct answer for "defensive offsides." Also I think you should count "[illegal] block in the back" for "illegal block above the waist."

	I absolutely refuse to believe "illegal block in the back" is not listed. There is one on nearly every returned kickoff/punt. Well...perhaps fewer in the NFL than in college, but still a significant number.

	You need to allow 'defensive offside' (note the lack of a final 's'). Also 'block in the back' is a type of 'Illegal Block Above the Waist' but it is pretty much the only seen example so should be allowed as that answer. The rest of it is good though (you are right to be specific on offensive/defensive holding/pass interference for example).

	off sides should work for def offsides, since theres no such thing as offensive offsides. And really, offsides and encroachment are the same thing too.

	@y2jdilemma: Wrong. Offsides and Encroachment are not the same. Offsides refers to someone being over the line of scrimmage at the time of snap only. Encroachment refets to when being offsides caused another play on the opposing team to jump prior to the snap.

	there isn't a difference offensive holding and defensive holding or pass interference. its just holding, or pass interference then is assesed to either offence or defense. theres no difference, its still the same penalty. and no "block in the back"? if you've ever watched a football game you would hear that multiple times by an official.

	This quiz has a good idea but it really sucks in its execution. I don't know if the creator is a huge stickler who demands exact wording or if he was just too lazy to put in the reasonable alternate answers so that people actually had a chance and didn't have to guess at his extremely specific wording. too bad it got so popular.

	I gave up 56 seconds and zero correct answers into this quiz after "offsides", "holding" and "pass interference" were rejected. Worst quiz to date...

	It's not "offsides". It's "offside". There is not an 's' at the end of the word. And it's not a separate penalty for the offensive or defensive player. The rule book lists offside as a 5-yard penalty for any offensive or defensive player who lines up across the line of scrimmage. It's just like delay of game in that the penalty is the same regardless of which side of the ball commits the foul. I understand listing offensive & defensive holding and offensive & defensive pass interference separately, as the punishment is different for each, but there is no reason to list "defensive offside" as such. There is one offside penalty. That's why the ref never says "defensive offside". He just says "offside".
