| A considerable upset that many fans should be more aware of is 1914, Boston Braves over the Philadelphia Athletics, 4-0. The A's had won 3 of the last 4 World Series ('10, '11, '13), had averaged 97 wins per year from 1909-14, were in possession of some great hall-of-famers, and were managed by one of the greatest of all-time, Connie Mack (five career titles). I imagine the A's were pretty shocked, especially since the Braves had been 15 games out of first on July 4th and had had a winning record in only 1 of their last 14 seasons.
