| Cy did have 270 wins with Cleveland, but with two different franchises. He won 241 games from 1890-98 with the now defunct Cleveland Spiders. After two years with the team now known as the St. Louis Cardinals (45 W), he won 192 games with the Red Sox (1901-08). He won 29 games in 2 1/2 seasons with the Indians (at the time they were called the Naps). He was released by the Naps in August 1911 and was quickly picked up by the Boston Braves, who for that one season were called the Rustlers. He picked up his final 4 W's there before retiring at 44. 511 wins! A record I can safely say will never be broken...win 20 games for 25 years, and you're still 11 wins short! |
