Here's how I gathered and organized data for this quiz. Fair warning: boring details ahead.
Okay, so to get the livestock populations I went to the source website (http://faostat.fao.org/site/573/DesktopDefault.aspx?PageID=573#ancor). I input all of the Sporcle accepted countries (unfortunately, Kosovo, Taiwan and South Sudan were not on the website; the first two aren't UN members and South Sudan is brand new) and moved the data to Excel. I got the list of countries by population from this the CIA website (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2119rank.html, which is the same site Sporcle uses), took out all the non-Sporcle countries and put it next to the other list with livestock population. I put in a little formula that divides one by the other, sorted by that, and bingo, you've got the top 10 livestock per capita. I did that 8 times, put it all together in another spreadsheet, and just imported it to the data page. And, presto! You've got my quiz.
Now with all the sorting and calculating I did, I may have made some mistakes. If something seems odd, just point it out and I'll look into it. Enjoy the quiz! |
