Yes, I know, a ton of California schools. I'm not a west-coaster, but I tried to accept as many answers, abbreviations and acronyms I knew. If I missed any, lemme know.

@istalkblink182: Haha that might be a good idea. I had no idea until today that its schools had so many applicants.
@mexal: Done.
@giveupyet: Done. And thanks!

If you accept all the other CA schools by the city name only, please accept San Francisco (State) too.

@chriskotx Actually, accepting "San Francisco" for San Francisco State would be incorrect. There is a University of San Francisco that has been more known as "San Francisco" than SF State.

please accept the abbreviation "st" for "state". I entered various schools e.g. "cal st fullerton" and did not receive credit because the quiz recognized only the full word. then i found out that was a correct answer, and i was a little upset.

Agree on some of the California abbreviations - should take UCSB, UCSD, San Luis Obispo or SLO for Cal Poly, etc.

With a couple exceptions it seems like most of these correlate to states with the largest populations, assuming that a lot of people apply to schools in their home state for in-state tuition.

All of these people apply to the UC system... but they can't get any financial aid because the system (and the state of CA for that matter) are dead broke :(

It should take "Penn St" for Penn State, as most quizzes on this site take things like "Penn St," "Ohio St," and so on for those colleges.

I don't get this. How do only 4.4% get Drexel but 15.6% get every question right? Something's wrong with the statistics here.

Oof, this really needs to accept more ways of writing these names. As a native Californian, I got "UCLA" right off the bat, and then tried UCSD, UCSB, UCR, etc -- very common abbreviations -- and none of them worked. Also, "University of Texas" is ambiguous (that's a university system across the whole state). I assume you mean University of Texas at Austin, but you don't accept the common abbreviation "UT Austin" either. For a quiz like this, we really need consistency on either accepting all the common abbreviations or not.

I'll echo some of the comments here. I got "UCLA" and "CAL", but when "UCSD" didn't show up I figured that was it for the California State schools and didn't get any of the others. Too confusing.

I will also echo what others are saying. Why doesn't this quiz accept the same abbreviations for the schools? Why would NYU work but not Penn St?

The consistency for this game is just absolutely horrible. Some times entering the city name will give you the college, sometimes not. Sometimes entering the abbreviation for the school will give you the college, sometimes not. This should have been cleaned up before making the front page.

Caltech (California Institute of Technology, a private school in Pasadena) is not the same as Cal Poly (California Polytechnic State University, a public school in San Luis Obispo).

@yggdrasil - There's also Cal Poly Pomona. I'm wondering if the number up there is for one of the two Cal Polys or for both combined.
