thanks mtots. and there is some logic to the groupings...are you really going to pick that Randy Winn was more likely to get a hit in his group than Derek Jeter? Quiz isn't meant to trick...just meant as something fun and hopefully informational as you move along.

Choosing Jamie Moyer for number 14 may prove to be the low point in my Sporcle career.

I didn't need that half hour to do something productive anyway. You and your damn Jim Bagby quiz.
Nov 5th, 2010 at 16:52 GMT
At first I didn't see the fact that 3 out of the 4 answers were correct (and I thought only one was), so I was really shocked by my luck when I got all the way to 27!

DO you have to include people who got hits this year? Why not throw in people like Mike Schmidt into the list? Or that Jim Bagby got a hit on June 1?
Nov 5th, 2010 at 18:38 GMT
congrats MikeN...I went by the MLB 201 schedule. So when it says Derek Jeter got a hit on 4/4, he really did get a hit on 4/4.
Nov 5th, 2010 at 19:18 GMT
I'm going to go ahead and say that my "losing" pick got a hit but it was ruled an error, I win.

smoggy14, how do you make quizzes like this, where you lose if get a wrong answer?

This isn't the first time my love for Jason Kubel has failed me. And probably won't be the last.

raysrule...it's a little tough to explain, but I'll try my best. keep in mind that all of the answers except for the first one are bonus answers. Line 1: Question should be "Type GO to start." The answer though will be all of the wrong answers for the entire quiz. (This is NOT a bonus answer) Line 2: Ask your first quiz question, but the answer to the question is "GO" (this should be a bonus answer) Line 3: Ask your second question, but the answer to question 2 is the answer to question 1. Then just continue on!

got to 27...took a chance on darnell mcdonald and it let me down haha, really good quiz.

Little known fact: If you say the words "Jim Bagby" three times while standing in front of a mirror, the ghost of Joe Dimaggio will appear behind you and club you with a baseball bat.

My name is Jim Bagby people. Thats right!!
Nov 7th, 2010 at 11:55 GMT
Stupid Jim Bagby. The 3B robbed JoeD twice in what would have been game 57. DiMaggio was so depressed that his streak was over, he only managed to hit in another 17 consecutive after that. If not for ken keltner, it could have been a 74 game hitting streak. Yikes.
Nov 9th, 2010 at 13:57 GMT
Jim Bagby, and I was able to skip to any question I wanted. If I got one wrong, I restarted the game and just typed in the correct answer and it skipped to that.

Nov 12th, 2010 at 01:13 GMT
great quiz, time consuming though, if you go all the way
May 10th, 2011 at 04:30 GMT
Jim Bagby is a Bagby of s*it
May 10th, 2011 at 04:38 GMT
Very enjoyable. I did my best to avoid the pitchers
May 10th, 2011 at 16:28 GMT
This quiz is not accurate. You have a 25% chance of failing. But the chance of going hitless is lower than this. To get close you would have to assume a .300 hitter going 0-4. However, he is batting better than that, and will get at least 5 plate appearances.
May 10th, 2011 at 18:27 GMT
@Smoggy: Try reversing the order of the questions so that new questions appear on the top, not the bottom.
May 10th, 2011 at 19:04 GMT
sounds like a good tip rockgolf...how do i do that?
May 10th, 2011 at 19:10 GMT
Brennan Boesch, not Brendan
May 10th, 2011 at 19:27 GMT
Bagby was the first pitcher to hit a home run in a modern World Series, and one of the last three pitchers to win over 30 games in one season (31-12 in 1920).
May 10th, 2011 at 20:04 GMT
@Smoggy: To reverse the order, starting from the bottom, move each line in the data to its new position. For example, when you start click on the ">" key of the last data line and move it to Line 2. When that's completed, you have a new last line which you move to line 3. Then the new last line(s) go to 4, 5, 6, etc.

I would like to congratulate @MikeN on figuring out that getting 57 straight questions right on Sporcle is a bit easier than getting a hit in 57 consecutive Major League Baseball games.
