| @NardDog: I hate LeBron and Michael Jordan, but the teaming up argument isn't that good when comparing the two. Of course Jordan didn't make the choice by leaving for another team like LeBron did, but he did have two other Hall of Famers on his team, LeBron definitely doesn't have two. But that's another reason why I don't believe Jordan is the best, because he had THE best rebounder/one of the best post defenders in Rodman and probably THE best guard defender in the league in Pippen on his team. The guy never had to be guarded by the best defender in the league at the time. And the vast majority of Hall of Famers in the 90s were big men that Jordan didn't have to play. He wasn't the best until Magic and Bird retired, and he had Pippen for every championship. They moved the 3 point line in for him and didn't move it back to normal until after his first retirement. And on top of the two Hall of Famers, he had some damned good role players. Great 3 point shooters in Kukoc, Kerr, and Paxson, Kukoc was even the 6th man of the year once, and a great rebounder in Horace Grant. Not to mention that PHIL JACKSON was his coach. All of those things make winning a hell of a lot easier. On top of all of that he had the media talking about him non-stop, which Wilt and Oscar didn't have, and Magic had to a much lesser extent. Familiarity goes a long way. People only believe that Jordan's the best because they're constantly told that he is and don't know any better. Heck, kids nowadays only think that he's the best because they watched Space Jam as kids and had Bugs Bunny tell them that he was the best ever. I picked neither. Wilt's the best, hands down. |
