Love the game, but 5 minutes is really nowhere near enough time to find 50 5-letter anagrams. 7 to 9 minutes would make this one worth of a nomination. Well done regardless.

Well, LTH has made a whole series of these quizzes, including this one which was published this past week, and includes some of the same ones.

Excellent, and very challenging. There are additional words for some that could be added as bonus answers (alpen for penal, spute for stupe..)

The ones that you need to remove if you wish to are: bowel, clasp, slain, spelt, binge and lucre. That would still leave a great game. Alternatively you can substitute these.

Slipkid, this is a front-page game I hope ! Will you create a sequel? 5 globes and a nomination.

@sproutcm: I think LTH's quizzes are different in that they start with a jumble rather than an anagram. This quiz was actually created prior to the LTH quiz you refer to. @strags11: I upped the time to 8 mins. @bandersnatch: I've decided against bonuses for this quiz. @Flick: I like the quiz with the words that you suggested I remove, I did however up the time. The results show that folks are having some success with those words. @WackyZacky: Thanks for the nomimation. There are several prequels & sequels to this quiz which I created a while ago: http://www.sporcle.com/games/slipkid/3_words_from_4_letters, http://www.sporcle.com/games/slipkid/3_Words_Same_6_Letters, http://www.sporcle.com/games/slipkid/3_words_same_7_letters, http://www.sporcle.com/games/slipkid/5_words_5_letters

Excellent quiz, it's amazing how obvious some of these words are after they have been guessed. yet are quite hard before they are guessed. I mean, few of these words could be described as obscure, yet still are quite hard to get.

Great quiz. How about pinot (as in pinot noir)? Hasn't that word entered the acceptable lexicon?

Is there anybody else who looks at a jumble/anagram and has no clue whatsoever, rearranging letters in their mind, and when after the third revisit one word comes out, the other immediately follows?

"Scope" and "copes" should be listed in the opposite order, as should "roles" and "loser," unless I'm mistaken.

Leafs isn't a word. Don't care if a hockey team uses it, still not a word.

I'm really sorry to post this, but the fact that I went to junior high in the 90's means that for "lores", I attempted "slore".

"Leafs" is correct as a possessive noun. Sure, there's no apostrophe in the quiz, but whatever.

what about "to leaf through something" i.e. to leaf through a book? In that case, leaf can be used for the he/she/it form, as a verb: "he leafs through a book".

"Leafs" is also correct as simply a plural of leaf. Obviously "leaves" is more common, but both are acceptable. I looked this up last year during an argument about whether Toronto was just bad at grammar. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/leaf

I stand corrected, Leaf as a verb can be pluralized into Leafs, but only as a verb. so that said, @grapes, Toronto is still wrong, because Toronto Maple Leafs is using it as a noun, so should be Leaves, it is bad grammar.

Well Webster (the source given by grapes) clearly states that "Leafs" is correct not only as a verb form but also as a noun, so no bad grammar there, just unconventional one. What you mean with "pluralized as a verb" I do not get though, I thought apart from "be" verbs can only be thirdpersonsingularized.
