While Sint Maarten is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, French Saint Martin is only an overseas collectivity (dependency) rather full part of France like French Guiana is so inclusion of Sint Maarten-Saint Martin is debatable.
The Netherlands can be confusing because the Kingdom of the Netherlands contains 4 constituent countries, one of which is also called the Netherlands. Sint Maarten, Curaçao, and Aruba participate in the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, but not in the government of the constituent country of the Netherlands. It is one nation, although the constituent countries of the Netherlands are much more independent from each other than the UK countries are. |
