@rachebee, I was wondering the same, its because the AFI adds "a cinematic interpretation of the past" into their definition, so sci-fi and fantasy would not fit their definition. (LOTR is their #2 fantasy, and Star Wars their #2 Sci-Fi)

so basically the definition of an epic movie is a movie that took place in the past? seems a little broad. you learn something every day.

Please set the quiz so that a, and, and the are not required. It is frustrating to know another 4-6 and then not get credit because of a petty detail like that.

I thought the Sporcle standard was to not require "the" "a" "and" aren't required. I missed three because I didn't type "the"

Wow, there's some 24 carat ka-ka on this list. Who exactly IS the American Film Institute and how could they include a hateful pile of racist propaganda like Birth of a Nation??

Over six months since the comment about quiz setting so that "a, and, and the are not required" and you still haven't edited it? For shame.
