	According to Sporcle's "Countries of the World" quiz there are 195 countries, but according to international conventions there may be as many as 203. Can you name these eight sovereign states that are absent from the "Countries of the World" quiz?

	i only knew 2. i've never even heard of the others. this is very interesting. To anyone who's also wondering about this... Kosovo and Tawain are also listed in the same category as these by the UN (of countries with limited recognition, where some countries recognize them as independent nations and some do not), but I'm guessing those two get to be on the Countries of the World quiz possibly because those are the ones that the US recognizes as countries. That's what I guessing.

	7/8, and I did know 'Nagorno-Karabakh', the name just escaped me a bit. Good quiz, I had to stretch my memory to remember Transnistria, Abkhazia and to a lesser extent, TRNC.

	I've always felt that Sporcle's list should either include all of these countries or take away Kosovo and Taiwan. An "official" list would just be whatever the UN recognizes, and currently that's 192 plus Vatican City. Objectively Kosovo and Taiwan's inclusion is kind of arbitrary, though I certainly get where we're coming from by picking them.

	Count_of_Tuscany: Sorry, I definitely didn't mean to repeat anyone's work, although I'm glad to see that ours are sourced and formatted differently. I did spend quite while searching to see if it had been done before but I guess somehow I missed your quiz. If anyone has any issues with this quiz, please let me know. The rating has dropped a point since yesterday but there aren't too many people saying why that might be.

	@shawnkay Don't be too concerned about the ratings drop - there's a number of users out there who give out ones for the heck of it and never leave a comment. I think it has more to do with their poor score than with the quality of the quiz. This one is very good. I track my ratings and, after 5, the next most common score is 1, just edging out 4. When you think about it, that really makes no sense if people are judging quality over results.

	I would have got perfect on this quiz, but I didn't know how to spell Nagorno-Karabakh or even what its name was exactly. I just knew its name looked something like that.

	this is one of the quizzes that i wish i could just click "see answers" or something... i haven't heard of any of these (with the exception of palestine) but i am interested in learning more about them! :)

	Perhaps accept NKR (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) or Artsakh for "Nagorno-Karabakh".

	I can understand why most of these are absent from the Countries of the World quiz, but I'm still not entirely sure why SADR is not on it.

	I imagine many more of the poor ratings came from people like RedLIon with clear biases against the quiz's premise and against deep thinking.
