First off, I'm flattered you followed up with a similar quiz. Also, I know the problem is the source, but I find it VERY hard to believe that only 60k out of the 2.4m French speakers. The data is pretty bad for Toronto, but somehow there are considerably less bilinguals in Montreal, which I find hard to believe.

Thanks for the idea. All you. And I think the data is fine, as it's asking about mother tongue. While most Montrealers are bilingual in terms of languages spoken, very few are perfectly bilingual as a mother tongue to the point where they can't identify which language they learned first. Most people learn one or the other first in childhood, and then pick up the other language in school or later on. So yeah, I think the numbers are fairly accurate.

Other game notes: Like Yony did with the Toronto quiz, I also combined the answers for Mandarin, Cantonese, and Chinese (other) into one, because of the way they were distributed on the original source. I've added some bonus answers for languages that were close to being in the top 20. All figures are from 2006 census data.

Great quiz, I was hoping for a Montreal version. Could you please accept Haitian for creole? It has to be the dominant creole in mtl and most people refer to the language as simply haitian. Again, great quiz.

Wow - I really thought I'd see Hebrew or Yiddish!

@Hondo, I've added Haitian as an acceptable answer for Creoles.

18 answers plus 2 bonuses equals 20/20, so... perfect? I am surprised to see specific ethnic Indian languages on here without the general Hindi.

Very surprised 'Quebecois' isn't acceptable for French.

@Jay, that would be inaccurate, since not everyone who has French as a mother tongue is necessarily Quebecois. There are French people living in Quebec who hail from France or from other places in the world, and the census data doesn't make a distinction.

Just a quick note to say that I updated the game to use 2011 census data. Those of you who followed the battle between Statistics Canada and the Conservative government over the long form census will no doubt know of some of the data sampling and statistical validity issues involved with making the long-form census optional. Nonetheless, this is the data we have, so this is the data we use.
