| @segacs: I liked this quiz very much, but have to question the source in some ways. First, it uses questionable criteria. For example, the United States and France are given relatively low scores for "Functioning of Goverment". Based on what? Who knows. Is a democracy any less of a democracy because of vigorous debate that causes the government to enter gridlock?? Similarly, other ratings are clearly the result of subjective bias. Israel is given high scores on virtually everything, but a poor score for "Civil Liberties" (equal to Madagascar). Yet, the citizens of Israel - both Jewish and Muslim - have civil rights on par with citizens in the US and Europe. Obviously, an anti-Israel bias that holds Israel responsible for the civil rights of Muslims living under Muslim rule in Gaza and the West Bank is at play. (Ironically, the Economist nevertheless has a separate rating for the Palestinian territories). If it were not for this one low and questionable rating, Israel would be on the list of Full Democracies. These are just a few examples of the questionable source, but overall, a very enjoyable quiz |
