| @rjm, @vizili: What kind of hints do you think would be appropriately helpful? I like that this more like a puzzle than a quiz -- if the clues were so helpful that they gave away what movie they were cluing, then it would be a simple matter to guess the stars of those movies and get the puzzle 80% right in 1 min. As it sits, between 1/3 and 2/3 of players guess five of the 11 actors and five of the 10 movies, and 1/8 of the players get everything right. I would like to encourage more successes than that, but I also don't want a cakewalk. I agree that no one knows what was nominated for BET awards in 2004, but if you've guessed George Clooney or Julia Roberts by that point, just how many of the movies they released in the '00s could even be nominated for such awards? Thats how the clues are supposed to function -- to need the reinforcement of successful actor guesses -- but I'm happy to replace any/all of them with a better clue that accomplishes that. Would a better Ocean's 12 clue be "second in a trilogy?" "Crime comedy?" "Set in Europe?" I'd change it to anything like that, but I don't want to change it to "Europe-set second film in a crime comedy trilogy." |
