| Throwing out the 80+ year histories of the Big 8 and SWC is crazy. It appeared that you were trying to be all-inclusive, but independent schools and members of defunct conferences are being left out by default. If someone had set a bunch of records at Georgia Tech during the 70s (Metro Conference), would you have classified that as Mid-Major, ACC, or just thrown it out? I believe your intent was to focus more on the current grouping of schools and not necessarily whether or not they had players set records within their current conference. I think it would eliminate confusion to let the schools be grouped as you have them, but let them retain their entire history. Like the other guy said, Houston was a major in the SWC when Olajuwon played there, but they are now considered a mid-major. If you were to apply your Chamberlain logic here, then Olajuwon should be removed. All that is a long way of saying that I think you had it right the first time with Chamberlain included. |
