| Fernando has a "very brief career"? Are you kidding me? He pitched 17 years in the bigs, 11 with the Dodgers (he won 141 games for them). There was nothing as awesome as "Fernandomania" at Dodger Stadium during the early 80's. What a buzz it was. He also drew huge crowds on the road, similar to Fidrych and Strasburg. I was also happy to see Dionne on the list. He was the man for the Kings years before Wayne came to town. It was always easy to get a LAK ticket at the old Fabulous Forum. As vegashokie stated, Jackie Robinson SHOULD have made this list. He went to John Muir High in Pasadena, and lettered in 4 sports (baseball, football, basketball and track). He was also on the tennis team. He excelled at Pasadena Junior College, then became the first athlete to earn 4 varsity letters while at UCLA. If that doesn't qualify as one of LA's top 15 athletes, I don't know what does. |
