@Dodo_baggins: write a good one........think it's all done on nominations so if you've written one that fits in with a current theme (see recent quizzes for current sporcle trends) and it's been highly rated then people who do the quiz can nominate it to be published.

@Dodo: Come up with a topic that a large number of people are generally familiar with (or a smaller number of people are fanatic about). Confirm the info on it as far as possible. Test it yourself before publishing, Pick a title that will pique people's interest. Post close to midnight EST to maximize the likelihood of getting on the "Most Played Today" list.

I should start reading "Bachman" books. I should have gotten Blaze and Rage as I was at the bookstore looking at them literally the other day.

@Dodo: to add to rockgolf's analysis... the title is very important and will make/break your quiz. From personal experience, don't post it on a Friday. Make it nice to look at (balanced columns, pleasant colours). Don't put Rick Astley on it. Triple check it. Speel thngs corecctly. Watch for dumb typos. Add some humour. Research and know your topic better than anyone. And when all else fails, make it have something to do with Sports or Kyrgyzstan. Play "How to make a bad Sporcle quiz" and then don't do that.

Drat. Got the Bachman books, but then blanked on a bunch of easy ones from the 80s. And I think I had deliberately erased my memory of the poop aliens. Thanks for bringing that one back, Sporcle.

"Sleepwalkers" is the title of an unpublished novel by King that was made into a movie.

@Dudeman612: Darn. That would've made a good bonus. But King doesn't count it as a novel on his own site, which is what I used to make the list.

Forgot about Dreamcatcher...but I think that was my subconscious trying to protect me. What a piece of crap that one was (although I guess I did appreciate that it finished up at the Quabbin Reservoir...always enjoy the New England shout-outs).

@Dodo baggins - Publishing a quiz is up to the people at Sporcle. My advice is to play a lot of quizzes and read the comments. You can learn a lot about making a good game better and how to avoid making mistakes.

Rage is a short story, not a novel. It was published in the compilation "Four Past Midnight".

actually, Rage was published as part of the Bachman Books, along with The Long Walk, Roadwork, and The Running Man. Also, I spent almost the entire quiz POSITIVE that Roadwork was two words!

I don't know what all the hate on Dreamcatcher is about I think it is a fantastic novel. And Desperation has to be one of my favorite King's ever. Great quiz.

@dudeman612 sleepwalkers is not an unpublished novel, it was written as a screen play intentionally, King says so himself.

@tacomajoe61 actually Rage is a novel that is now a collectors item so for the person who said he was at the bookstore looking at it...I don't think it was Rage. I bought my copy online about 7 years ago for $120 now I can't even find a copy for less than $300. King pulled it from the market after a school shooting in which his book was linked with the shooter. It does appear in The Bachman Books but it was an original novel before that.

Did anyone else type "Rita Hayworth and Shawkshank Redemption" just to see if a bonus answer would pop up?

"The" tripped me up a little, too. I thought of Tommyknockers and Regulators, but to no avail.
