| Really great quiz. I know WAR is a complicated and detailed stat, but I am still wondering how Hack Wilson's 1930 season (.356 BA, 56 HR, 191 RBI, 1.177 OPS) was only good for a WAR of 7.4. Even accepting that his defense knocked a full point off that season's WAR, it's hard to believe that he's not even close to the top 100 seasons of all time, and perhaps even crazier that two other players from that same season appear on this list, but not Wilson. I thought there must be some mistake to this quiz until I looked it up myself. Can anyone share some insight as to how his WAR wasn't higher, or was 1930 just the ultimate year of the hitter? |
