Ok, I just played it and got 63. What does it say about me that I got The Cure, Chase, Tower of Power and missed Kool & The Gang?
You should indicate in the notes that the clip is alphabetically arranged by artist. And I'm not sure if you've put in a few legitimate alternate answers.
For example, the Beyonce track is actually a sample from the Chi-Lites song "Are You My Woman (Tell Me So)". Bill Conti's track should also allow "Theme From Rocky" or even just "Rocky". And there's a really weird situation on Young-Holt Unlimited. The horns were actually the original tracks of Barbara Acklin's 1969 song "Am I Still Your Girl". Not a re-recording. Exactly the same tracks! Young-Holt basically erased the vocal, added some other instruments, changed the title and released the same work. Either recycling or the world's longest sample. But "Am I Still Your Girl" should be accepted.
In other news, I still confuse the Kampfert track with "Stranger On the Shore" by Mr. Acker Bilk. I was sure you'd misspelled it until the answers were revealed.
Once again, just a stunningly wide-ranging and excellent clip. After my 100 artists clip, I know how long it takes to put these together, but on my best day I could never have found almost 90 different artists that used trumpets. I hope you had as much fun putting it together as I had listening to it. |
