Whitney Houston has 11, 5 more than the illustrious Hall and Oates.

Really interesting quiz, but quite difficult. I'd definitely like to see a source, too.

For the ties you should just group them all together. So, for instance, typing any one of the D's gets you all 3, as one entry.

I don't care who you are, if you think Ludacris or Jennifer Lopez are better than Led Zeppelin, you're absolutely insane.

Is that really the ONLY Z that has had a billboard number one hit?

I agree about Led Zeppelin, but they hardly released any singles.

Elvis did not have 17 number one hits on the Hot 100. Quite a few of those were on the Top 100 (1955-1958)... if you're including the Top 100, you might as well go all the way back through the Best Seller's in Store's chart (1940-155), in which case Jimmy Dorsey should, I believe, be the correct answer for "D" as he had 5 number one's in 1941 alone.

Thanks for the input! I've changed Elvis's hits to only those that were on the Hot 100.

Maybe you could accept just "Elvis."
