| I love the birth of exploitation at the time, Stoned Soul Picnic, the can you dig its in the Hugh Masekela song (I am actually sure Friends of Distinction did that version in early 69). Its like the 1968 period black people were seen as having pre afros (The round fuzz with sideburns, wore macs and said "Can you dig it" which was a cliche. We called them Joe Afros then. It was tacky, but at least by 68, we were accepting them as human beings. And look at it this way, by 68, their music was very popular, theres a lot of Motown and Stax here and rightfully so. |
