make it accept acronyms, i.e. uva, gmu, jmu, etc. nobody says the full name of the college!

I agree with @fakeblueeyess about the acronyms. It should also accept shorter names: George Mason, Mary Washington, Virginia, etc. This is missing some colleges/universities as well...Virginia Union, Shenandoah, Norfolk State? Check here for more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colleges_and_universities_in_Virginia

DO we really have to type out the entire "College of William and Mary"? William and Mary ought to be sufficient. Or for that matter, University every time?

There is no Hampton College (not in the US anyway). It's Hampton University.

NSU, JMU, VCU, VSU, VMI, ODU, W&M, UVA should all be acceptable. Also agree that requiring University or College is redundant.

George Mason is in Fairfax County (primarily), not in Harrisonburg at all. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Mason_University

Southern Virginia University, Virginia Union University, Shenandoah University, and Emory & Henry are all missing. I'm sure there are more that neither of us have thought of. You should look up some kind of official list.
