| codejlandt brings up a good point. While "St." does stand for sAint, as far as the City of St. Louis charter goes, the city is officially known as "City of St. Louis" and nowhere in the charter is "Saint" spelt out. Officially speaking, "St." is the spelling of the first word in the city's name and it is pronounced "saint." While the airport, many schools and universities, the zoo, and public library all spell out "saint," as far as the city name is registered, it is ONLY "St." Technicality, yes, but it should be here. |
