| Mycenae, of course, was not actually a Greek city-state in the classical period, but a heap of ruins that was part of Argive territory. Delphi and Olympia were also not city-states - Delphi was under control of Phocis, a tribal region without real cities; Olympia was under control first of the city of Pisa, and later of Elis, after Elis conquered Pisa. Tons of city-states aren't included here, with no rhyme or reason to why these particular ones were. |
