	Bills and Sabres are not animals. If you're counting them because the name of the city is an animal... well, that's just lame.

	Ditto on the Sabres. A Sabre is a type of sword. Mavericks aren't an animal either. The Dallas franchise was named after the show Maverick featuring James Garner who was part of the original ownership.

	Mavericks and thrashers are not animals either. Gotta take the Rays off too the nickname refers to the rays of the sun not the animal as the old Devil Rays nickname did. I'd say that the Nashville Predators and the Minnesota Wild nicknames are exceptable.

	a Maverick is a calf (their logo also shows this). What it was actually named after is irrelevant. A thrasher is a type of bird (also shown in their logo). The Bills, Sabres and Rays are all good points and should be taken off so I will do that. A Predator is not an actual animal.

	The Maverick logo features a horse not a cow. However one of the meanings of Maverick is as follows: A range animal esp. a calf not branded separated from his mother. Considering a horse can fall under this meaning I'll call it even.

	Haha...ok fair enough, we'll call it a wash. I struggled with that one when making this but I decided to include it. And you are correct, their logo is a horse, not a cow.

	The Rays did NOT come from the rays of the sun. They were originally called the Devil Rays (named after the ANIMALS found in the Tampa Bay) and their logo was also a Devil Ray. I don't get how you could think that was from the sun, unless you're implying the sun is Lucifer.

	They were the Devil Rays but when they switched to just the Rays, they came out with a statement saying that their name has to do with the sun. They have completely cut ties with the whole "Devil Ray" thing...look it up.

	Rays indeed cut ties with the animal and are solely based on "a beacon that radiates throughout Tampa Bay and across the entire state of Florida."
