If you're going to accept only official names you need to be consistent, Taiwan's official name is the Republic of China. Also Hong Kong and Macau are not countries.

Accept Sporcle standard country names: North Korea, South Korea, Laos, Brunei and Papua New Guinea all didn't work for me. As doback said, Macau and Hong Kong aren't countries. However, if you're going to have them please accept just "Hong Kong" and "Macau"

I have to agree with the treehugger and doback. Quite frustrating when it doesn't accept Laos, Macau, Hong Kong, South and North Korea, Brunei and Papua New-Guinea. That's an easy fix. Also I think 20 minutes is a bit much.

Sorry guys this is for a class and i am using official country names right out of the book. Although Taiwan's official name may be Republic of China, in the book i am using it is Taiwan.

This is tough, especially when you accept the common abbreviations for some of the countries but not all of them. What kind of class is it for? (If you don't mind me asking.)

No alternative answers were accepted in this quiz, I believe. The "accept last words only" option was checked which worked for many countries but some entirely correct answers weren't accepted. Moreover, this way some inaccurate and blatantly wrong answers were accepted: eg. plain "Korea" was fine for both Koreas and "Guinea" was OK for PNG!

What about the other half of the Pacific rim? Canada? United States? Chile?...
