You should probably clarify somewhere other than just a tag that you consider the Cotton Bowl to be the fifth major bowl. It might have been historically, but today it is not on the level of the other four.

These days, the Capital One Bowl is much more significant than the Cotton Bowl.

The Cotton Bowl was historically more important than Fiesta. I'm not sure why it got screwed out of the BCS.

I disagree, Perry. The Cotton takes the top Non-BCS team from the Big 12 and SEC. That's more prestigious than the Capital One getting the top non-BCS Big 10 team and whoever the other team is. (3rd best SEC? 2nd best ACC/Big East? I honestly don't know.)

Ever since the Southwest Conference broke up in the Mid 90's, the Cotton Bowl has gone down considerably. BTW With Penn State add Gator and Citrus Bowl, and ask any body to match that (Penn State fan).

Needs to be more clear. I thought it was the four BCS bowls and the national championship game. Nobody considers the Cotton Bowl in the same category of the BCS bowls anyways.

@ClintT13 the Capital One Bowl gets the first selection from the SEC after the BCS teams. Then the Cotton/Outback/Chik-Fil-A bowls follow the Capital One. Cotton bowl is not nearly as prestigious as it once was. http://www.secsports.com/news/default.aspx?ArticleId=139

Don't take OSU; it's too vague. It could also refer to Oklahoma State, Oregon State, etc.
