| Determining the historical popularity of girls' names is usually much more difficult than doing so for boys, because females were far less likely to hold property. The data for c. 1360 comes from a series of poll taxes from 1377 to 1381 that ultimately led to a major revolt. However, the data does not exist for London in particular (London as a city was powerful enough that it did not need to submit to the taxes), so the data present is an average of two nearby counties (and so is an approximation at best).
In addition, the 1530s data comes from page 196 in the link, and the 2009 data is for the UK as a whole, not London in particular. |
