This is in honor of National Coming Out Day (today). Also, I know that Manhattan is not a city, but that's the way it's reported on city-data.com, so I didn't mess with it.

I'm sure there's a good reason, but why was PXXXlXXd, ME with 1.3% listed as a bonus answer instead of the main list? I guess maybe it didn't satisfy the 100,000+ requirement? Just curious. Interesting quiz.

How disapponting that "Queens" isn't on here.

You might want to consider accepting "Fort" as an alternative to "Ft."....

What a lot of surprises! I guess the key is in the "self-reported" distinction. Brilliant quiz!!!

what jpn said with "might want to consider" being replaced with "need"

I wonder how the Mormons feel about those lurking homosexuals.

Yeah, Salt Lake City isn't known for its liberal politics and gay communities. That was kind of surprising, but I think a lot of these surprises have to do with gay people having very few urban areas nearby to escape from rural life - which is where it is most difficult to find other gays and where homophobia tends to be most intense.

@newenglander, having been to Provincetown, I was utterly shocked that it isn't a bonus. I believe you when you say it has the highest percentage. Looking at the source though, you're right, it isn't included because at 3,431 its population isn't nearly big enough.

@jpn, NCBerge: fixed it, thanks. @yodabutter: that's exactly why. @newenglander: yes, provincetown's population is under 5,000, so it doesn't even make that list. @steeltown: thanks!

@newenglander: Shouldn't be surprising...after all, the only things that come from Texas are steers and queers.

I admit the title of the quiz made a bad impression on me...it's not usual for allies to make a habit of using the term "homosexual" in a non-scientific context. Perhaps "gay" or "same-sex"?

Why do you have to type Richmond, CA to get that city? You don't have to do that for any of the others answers.

Thanks rogerpants, that's better. (I notice my comment got rated down. Thanks, people who don't have organizations trying to make it seem as if their entire identity is about having sex.)

Looked up a few cities under 50,000 on City-Data.com: Provincetown MA 12.9%, Saugatuck MI 3.3, Key West FL 3.1, Fire Island NY 2.1.

Enlightening. And I'm surprised San Diego outflanked LA...I wonder if cities like West Hollywood, Malibu, and Santa Monica were included as part of LA. I'm glad Pasadena is a bonus. :)

For all of those who are wondering, Portland, ME has a population of around 62,000. The requirement for a city to be on this list is 100,000.
