i feel bad for getting it so soon! i'll be vaguely cryptic and say that it's palindromic.
Mar 31st, 2011 at 13:11 GMT
i should add that it's a really good idea, although inevitably some of the answers are a bit contrived, must have taken some work!
Mar 31st, 2011 at 13:14 GMT
I think it maybe could use more time. I'd have loved 30 seconds more. I actually didnt realize the time would be out so fast, but I thought I was moving pretty quickly anyway. I do have a problem with the final clue though. Without revealing, I realize that the clue is probably tongue in cheek but it still doesn't make any sense. That definitely has nothing to do with the actual Greek definition, and it doesn't really describe him that much either. I realize it's not a word you want to give away, and I loved the "aha!" moment, but I do think you could come up with a better clue there.

@rockgolf: Can't quite shake that palindromic jones you've been on lately, can you? It's brilliant!

A palindrome...quite nicely done!
Mar 31st, 2011 at 15:12 GMT
Neat idea, but the 11-word *EE* chain feels a little cheap.
Mar 31st, 2011 at 15:27 GMT
@ostroffj: I agree, but man, it's tough to get around that. There's only a few vowel-vowel combo that work in both directions in 4-letter words: EE, OO, EI/IE, EU/UE. And finding CVCC/CCVC words that fit the theme is even trickier.

Great quiz! I agree with wheatonbrando that the final clue could be reworded.
Also, isn't the answer for "da Funky Homosapien" spelt without the 'S'?
Mar 31st, 2011 at 16:25 GMT
@Outlandish: Not as the clue is written. It refers to both of them. If it were phrased "'Runaway' singer Shannon
...", you'd be correct.

Ah I see, thanks for the clarification rockgolf. I only asked as I typed in 'Dell' about 10 times despite knowing it only had one 'l'...serves me right for not reading the question properly!

It took me reading the comments to get the thing. Great quiz. Very clever.

@rockgolf - It reminds me of that Meatloaf song, "Five Out of Six Ain't Bad." Epic.

Props for including Brad Delp..best rock singer ever.

Uummmm...if you have to guess the secret behind the word ladder, then why don't you have to GUESS the secret?? Seems like an addition to put at the end.
Apr 2nd, 2011 at 11:57 GMT
@pogues: Actually, that's a great idea!

Did you really have to put a spoiler in there? Sure, it's not shocking, but it's an interesting reveal.
Apr 7th, 2011 at 04:04 GMT
@Redsxfenway: If you're referring to Kane, well, if you haven't seen it in the past 70-odd years, that's not my fault!
Apr 14th, 2011 at 00:59 GMT
This is a very neat quiz, I honestly didn't catch the secret until I had all of the answers.

Very well done
Jun 22nd, 2011 at 05:31 GMT
gah! couldn't remember the actual word, so i kept thinking i was misspelling "reversible", which could also work since it is actually 10 letters and the letters in the quiz switch into reverse order... but that's a stretch. facepalmed when i finally saw the answer :-P good word ladder!

That moment when you're missing 2 answers, as well as the link between and your time runs out - you just stop and applaud the genius of this word ladder, and curse yourself for not thinking outside the boundaries of normal word ladder expectation. Fantastic quiz.

Great quiz! One of the best.
Jun 22nd, 2011 at 12:13 GMT
@Khazar49: Yes, it was tricky, but one of the tricks is you have to start in the middle.
Jun 22nd, 2011 at 12:50 GMT
Technically, Zeus is the king of the Olympian gods, not the father. But otherwise fantastic quiz! It was fun to try to figure out the palindrome. Shame on me! I couldn't remember the name!
Jun 22nd, 2011 at 12:56 GMT
rockgolf, this was amazingly clever. I am in awe. :)
Jun 22nd, 2011 at 13:11 GMT
@livelaughlove24: I think he was both. He was actual father to many of them, and had a father-like position over them all. Brilliant quiz.
