| This is exactly the sort of thing that shouldn't be determined by a survey, even if it's just done for a television special. Some of these are just people listing their favorite moments, or things they thought were funny - like Clinton playing the saxophone, or especially the I Love Lucy grape-stomping. And things like Ellen coming out (which everyone knew was coming for months), and the first appearance of Archie Bunker might have been groundbreaking and memorable, but they hardly count as shocking - especially when compared to Bobby turning up alive on Dallas, or Blake being revealed as dead on MASH. Some moments that might not have been great TV, but were shocking as hell, would be: "Is this because I'm a lesbian?" on Law and Order, Roseanne revealing that a lot of the details of the show - including Dan surviving the heart attack - were all imaginary, and news anchor Christine Chubbuck committing suicide on the air. |
