This part two of a two-part quiz. The list of the Top 200 artists was determined by me, using cumulative performance of all charted songs on the Billboard Hot 100 where the artist given lead credit on the track. For example, on "Empire State Of Mind" the points were only given to Jay-Z, not Alicia Keys. Sorry, Alicia.
Points were determined by a combination of highest position and longevity in the top ten, top 40 and top 100. No effort was made to "balance out" chart performance by year, since the decrease frequency of new releases in recent eras tended to balance out with longer durations on the chart. If you want more details, I used the same algorithm as in determining the raw score on top 2000 hits of all time.

The idea of the quiz is that the bigger the act is, the more songs you probably know by that act. So for acts 181-200, I listed their biggest hit. For acts 161-180, their second biggest, etc, until for the top 20 acts, I list their 10th biggest hit. (Again, this determination is based on chart performance.) Hopefully, this gives you an even shot at getting more of the top 200 acts.
Originally this was all in one quiz, but I split it out in two to allow more time and vastly reduce the scrolling. |
