The first Oscar quiz was published within 10 minutes of the nominations. I didn't expect to have almost 5 HOURS to get this quiz. But remarkably, no one else seems to have thought of it.

Why do they insist on nominating K. Wiig every year? Doesn't anyone realize that she's not the least bit funny?
And if you think Ron Swanson was robbed, consider that, once again, "Community" didn't get a SINGLE nomination.

@Cwpix09: Yes! Danny Pudi is brilliant. The semi-ad libs with Donald Glover over the credits in Community are regularly funnier than entire episodes of most other shows.

Congratulations to Steve Buscemi. That guy has been in everything, for for him to finally be recognized is great. Also, If they don't give the Emmy to Steve Carell in his last chance to win it, they are idiots.

The nominations were certainly better than I expected though. Actually seeing Justified actors and P&R for comedy series almost makes up for some of the more egregious omissions.

Great quiz. I wish you hadn't left Outstanding Reality Host out (Cat Deeley FINALLY got a nomination! All is right with the world...), but you got all the other categories covered. Awesome job, rockgolf. :)

@barandall: If I included that category, it would give away most of the Reality Competition nominees. There really should be an Emmy for Reality Competition contestant!

I'm still moderately bitter (if unsurprised) about the total snub of Treme. Fine, they don't like David Simon, but no love for Khandi Alexander? Or at least the music?

I stayed up to watch the announcements and thought "That would be a good quiz," but when I woke up, I was too late lol. Good job, rockgolf. One thing, would you be opposed to accepting "parks & recreation?" I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't accept it (I thought that was how it appears in the credits, but was obviously wrong), and after I got everything else, tried "and." Whew. I had about four minutes left when I finished, so it might be a little too much time?

How can Colfer be supporting actor? Stupid Glee made the whole second season about him. Community and Parks and Rec were both snubbed bad. And Wiig is the least funny person on the planet. I hope Friday Night Lights wins - it's been long overdue.

Shame the new season of Breaking Bad begins in 2 days and the last ended in June 2010. I'd be all for Bryan Cranston making it 4 wins in a row.
@LJ55: Steve Buscemi finally being recognized? Where have you been the last 20 years?

@gurufrisbee: Look at the other "supporting" nominees. The 4 male leads from Modern Family and one of the Two & a Half Men. Compared to those 5, Colfer has a cameo.

@rockgolf, I agree Dani Pudi, Alison Brie and Donald Glover definitely deserved nominations, plus the show itself. Also no one from Fringe got nominated. The Emmys just nominate Breaking Bad, 30 rock, Mad Men, and The Office and have them win in every catagory they're nominate for.

The biggest omission in my book? Cougar Town, especially Courteney Cox and Busy Philipps. It's one of the funniest shows on television and has gone so far beyond it's horrible premise. Other biggies include Parenthood, Survivor (it has to win sometime, right? It's the father of Reality TV), and The Walking Dead.

I'm glad Louis C.K. got a nom, but the show itself is gold! Way more deserving than shows like 30 Rock and Glee. Also, where are Breaking Bad and Bryan Cranston? One of the best shows ever.

Breaking Bad had no nominations this year due to the fact that it did not air any episodes during the voting period so it was ineligible. Next year you can bet it will be back to several noms.

About time Walton Goggins got a nomination after being overlooked for all seven seasons for his work on The Shield. NIce to see Game of Thrones get a couple of nominations as well.

@shaun871: I'm a little concerned that this season of Breaking Bad might not be up to the first three seasons. Consider this description of the 3rd episode:
Episode 3.3: "Why didn't you tell me we had a last name?"
Wacky antics ensue when Walter's illegitimate son (guest star Frankie Muniz) show up on his doorstep.

You can just look at the categories for best (supporting) actor/actress and basically get the first two columns of TV shows. And yes, Parks and Rec has way too many great roles such as April and Tom for this tiny amount of nominations.

i still can't believe that Community wasn't nominated for anything. I love Modern Family but you could cut at least one of the nominations and put Danny Pudi in. He's made Abed a more complex character. He should have won just for that My Dinner with Andre spoof!

^I agree. Much as I love Ed O'Neill and Modern Family as a whole, Danny Pudi deserved that spot a bit more.

I noticed my previous comment about Cougar Town already has gotten smited 3 times, which is fine but I can almost guarantee that those who did haven't actually watched the show. A lot of people (especially guys) can't get past the title of the show but I'm going to make my case for it now. :) It's not even about 'cougars' anymore, it's evolved beyond that premise and basically become a show about a quirky 'family' or group of friends type of show in the same vein as Community or The Office. It even has a recurring joke about wanting to change the name of the show! It's really great, and I urge everyone to give it a try and see for themselves, and not judge a book by it's cover. That's all. :)

@survivorfan - I have never watched Cougar Town, but the jokes about it on Community have made me think it might be worth checking out. I did love the cameo by Abed on the show (didn't see the episode, but had someone link me the video on Facebook). I, too, however, will join the many people asking "what the heck does Community have to do to get nominated and where is Ron Freaking Swanson?"

@survivorfan - As a huge fan of TV and normally open to just about any kind of show, I am going to have to disagree with you about Cougar Town. I wouldn't vote your comment down because everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but the show just isn't funny. I am a guy and I have no problem with the name, thats not the issue. For me the problem is that you can see a joke coming from a mile away, and the actors just aren't good actors. And we get it, they like to drink wine, they don't have to keep shoving it in the viewers faces. Obviously this is all just my opinion but the show doesn't deserve to be nominated and probably never will for as long as it airs.

@keev26 - Well, thanks for at least watching the show and coming to these opinions. I agree with you that the show itself will probably never get nominated for Best Comedy Series, but I keep hope up that someday the actors could get nods. Philipps won the Critics Award, and Cox was nominated for a Golden Globe. And I honestly see it and Community in sort of the same boat, sadly.
