Now all we need is a feature to allow different colours for the text, too, so that all the answers show up clearly against their backgrounds.

@Q_Pheevr: Your wish is granted! Sporcle has added that functionality. In the third column list the background color, then a "/" then the text color. For example HotPink/Yellow or Navy/White.

Definitely the 'purtiest' quiz I've seen on Sporcle but employees of Benjamin Moore et al have a major advantage over the rest of us.

Some of these colors sound like desserts ... Chocolate, Lemon Chiffon, Mint Cream, PapayaWhip, PeachPuff. Then you could get a pretty nice fruit plate from what's up there too. Honeydew, Lime, Orange, and Plum? Weird assortment, but it could work design-wise.
