INSTRUCTIONS: Melvin works for his Uncle Martin at the local repertory theater, The Majestic. His most important job is to put the titles of the movies on the Majestic's marquee. But, alas, Marvin is a malcontent and always modifies the movie titles in the same way: He substitutes two letters in the film's title with two other letters. Sometimes Melvin adjusts the spacing between letters so the title may not seem to have the same number of words, or letters in each word, but he always changes exactly two letters and never changes the sequence of the remaining letters. (Example, Marvin changed THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION to THE SHAW SPANK RED EMOTION.) Can you read the titles on Marvin's marquee and decipher which films Uncle Martin is actually showing?

	fun quiz! I think the time is fine. Some of them are really easy, but there are a couple pretty tricky ones, so the people that want to sit and think about them for a while can do so.

	Difficulty felt about right, I got all but 1 (which I hadn't actually heard of), but it took some real concentration to work a lot of them out, whilst some came instantly.

	No effect on the quiz, but since your preamble is such a part of it...You refer to Melvin as Marvin multiple times in the game note. You must've been undecided about whether to call your character Melvin or Marvin. Also, a repertory theater is a live playhouse, no?

	@rockgolf Quite fun, I'd say you could easily shave off 4 minutes from the quiz but there are a few things I'd probably change. Like the 'SUNSET BLUE' has one long word completely unchanged. I would love it if you could avoid movies that start with "THE" and the movies where you redid the spacing were much more fun and interesting, so if you could create a set like that that would make the 10 minute limit much more reasonable. This is a classic puzzle type I wish more people would work on. Betraisefold made one of these last week which I'm guessing you saw. http://www.sporcle.com/games/betraisefold/i_be_better_oaf

	@moviegoer: At least in Canada, a repertory cinema is one that shows other than first-run movies, usually in a run of less than a week. @Sprout: Until you referenced it I'd never seen betraisefold's game. But I like it. Apparently another case of independent invention. @ALL: As a few people have indicated, SUNSET BLUE / SUNSET BLVD is a bit of a cheat, so I've replaced it.

	There is no reason whatsoever to force order. We're not going to accidentally get a right answer from wild guessing, so you just make us switch between typing and clicking needlessly. Pretty good quiz otherwise.

	Ten minutes is fine. I don't understand putting a limit on quizzes that really have nothing to do with your ability to work things out quickly, or remember an entire list of something in a given amount of time, etc. This type of quiz is more fun than anything else, and the lightbulb moment when it clicks is the biggest thing it has going for it. I had a little over 3 minutes left when I finished...had I had 7 minutes to start with, I would've been keeping one eye on the clock running down and probably would've missed a couple because of it. Sorry, I can feel the soapbox starting to give way so I'll step off it.

	@pita...That is absolutely not true. One could very well get 2 or 3 of these films by running down a list of about 10-20 of the most popular films on Sporcle and in general. Should definitely remain answer in order.

	@moviegoer, that's a different problem that Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption and the Big Lebowski show up in just about every f'ing sporcle quiz. And if I'm thinking about those movies I'm going to get them anyway. If we go with your justification, every single movie quiz needs to be guessed in order. Every TV quiz too, because the Office and Arrested Development and the like show up in most quizzes too. You'd better make every quiz on Sporcle forced order, because someone might guess an answer, heaven forbid.

	If other people want to spend their time guessing movies at random because they think they show up a lot in other quizzes, great for them. It doesn't affect me in the least. It is, however, mildly annoying for me to have to click around when I'm skimming through the list of clues and finally have an "aha" moment with one of them. I agree with pita, I just don't see the need for forcing order on this one.

	@rockgolf: just so's ya know -- I actually LIKED that original "abbreviated" answer -- it was a great twist to end a great game! When I looked it up afterwards, the official title (at least according to a few sources, including the AFI all-time-movies list) IS listed that way. Any reference to player-suffering was meant tongue-in-cheek. If a player is presumed to know a movie's title in order to be rewarded for getting a correct answer, then, well, a player should know the movie's title, right? Anyways, again, I really liked this game, and extra-so because of that clue!
