♫♬ Vote For The Worst ♬♫ (POLL: Worst #1 Songs) Quiz
Created May 7, 2012 in Music

Kinderby : May 7th, 2012 at 19:56 GMT 13 points I just wish I could have voted for Kedollarsignha more. Actually, I could have used more time. I didn't get to finish reading all the song names, and perhaps worst of all, did not get to vote for Wind Beneath My Wings.
cbing736 : May 7th, 2012 at 20:32 GMT -2 points Didn't Single Ladies hit #1? I didn't bother voting for anything when I didn't see it there because nothing else is worse.
the_hmh_project : May 7th, 2012 at 20:39 GMT 5 points @Kinderby - I think there are some artists I just get tired of apologising for, and Ke-dollarsign-ha is one of the culprits. I do hold a certain affinity for TiK ToK, it was a really catchy song, but it really did signal the beginning of the end. Hence I voted for it. I think the two artists I've decided to stop apologising for are Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha - because they represent 'selling out' in the worst possible ways. Did you know Nicki Minaj sung a heartfelt song about her troubled childhood and teenage abortion before she was a signed artist? Or that Ke$ha was a professional songwriter? I think the truly unforgivable artist here is Soulja Boy Tell 'Em. He is... just the worst.
rockgolf : May 7th, 2012 at 20:56 GMT 1 point Keep in mind, you can always go back if you run out of time. @CBing: Ok, Single Ladies will be added.
theworryrock : May 7th, 2012 at 21:22 GMT 6 points Whoops. Didn't read the directions. /sporclefail. I really hate Crank That Soulja Boy, if it helps.
rockgolf : May 7th, 2012 at 21:30 GMT 8 points @theworryrock: No, I'm afraid you'll have to go back and vote for it again.
And again. And again. And again.
leviper : May 7th, 2012 at 21:33 GMT 3 points Increase the time until we're allowed to give up.
sharpdale : May 7th, 2012 at 22:33 GMT 3 points @rockgolf - Just wondering how you chose these 175 as opposed to some others over the years?
Comment below threshold: show it dxman : May 8th, 2012 at 09:00 GMT -5 points Where is Never Gonna Give You Up? It became a meme because it was so bad!
rockgolf : May 8th, 2012 at 11:22 GMT 6 points @Sharpdale: Nothing scientific. I just went for songs that were gimmicky, syrupy, omnipresent or irritating, and included some by acts I've learned are despised by many Sporclers.
@dxman: Really? I thought it was because it was so good, but ok, I'll add it.
vogelpoep : May 8th, 2012 at 13:17 GMT -3 points No Jackson 5?
jmsr525 : May 8th, 2012 at 13:20 GMT 3 points My additions: One More Try - Timmy -T-, Can't Nobody Hold Me Down - Puff Daddy, Mr. Lonely - Bobby Vinton. Also, you could save yourself many of these choices if you just put an answer of "Everything since 1992".
rockgolf : May 8th, 2012 at 13:40 GMT 1 point @Vogelpoep, @jmsr525: Added.
Cryptus : May 8th, 2012 at 14:56 GMT 4 points Shame 'Replay' by Iyaz didn't get to the top, I would've taken this quiz 50 times to to vote for it. One suggestion I do have is 'Grenade' by Bruno Mars; man that song was irritating.
entername : May 8th, 2012 at 15:09 GMT 2 points axel f by crazy frog was awful should have been on their
BombaySapphire : May 8th, 2012 at 15:20 GMT 4 points @entername: While the crazy frog version was a huge smash in UK and on the continent, it only reached no. 50 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, which is the source in play here. I share your sentiment, but it's moot on a technicality. *wink*
rockgolf : May 8th, 2012 at 15:35 GMT 7 points Oh, man, if there was a UK version of this quiz, 300 slots wouldn't be enough. Mr Oizo's Flat Beat, The Stonk, Mr Blobby, Can We Fix It, Teletubbies Say E-Oh!...
The horror... the horror...
Cryptus : May 8th, 2012 at 16:36 GMT 1 point Shockingly, both Crazy Frog and Can We Fix It turned up on the list of the 150 biggest selling UK singles of the 21st century, which speaks volumes about this millennium's popular music tastes...
alabamapaladin : May 8th, 2012 at 17:24 GMT 11 points So 10 percent of Sporclers hate pretty much everything? Maybe I'm just an overly nostalgic child of the '80s, but I actually really like some of these songs...
rockgolf : May 8th, 2012 at 17:41 GMT 6 points @Al Pal: I think 10% of Sporclers didn't read the directions and just clicked everything. They probably think they got a perfect score.
booklover12 : May 8th, 2012 at 17:46 GMT 3 points Maybe you could put these same songs in a poll where you click the ones you actually LIKE. And then restrain yourself from insulting other people's taste, because it really is something very personal.
Davidos : May 8th, 2012 at 18:23 GMT 1 point Thank you so much for getting the bad ones stuck in my head.... Also was "No One" by Alicia Keys every at #1. I seriously hope not, she sounds like she's off pitch the entire song. I really have nothing against her except this song though.
rockgolf : May 8th, 2012 at 18:35 GMT 17 points @Booklover: I'd like to do a similar "very best #1 ever" if this one does well. If people like the idea, vote this comment up.
needapausebutton : May 8th, 2012 at 18:47 GMT 17 points @rockgolf: I think you should first do a sequel using the SAME field of choices as this game, and title it “I Admit It, I Love Some of These #1 Songs”. I think the stats of the game would be just as interesting! And, such a game would be viable because, fortunately, nobody will know which ones you picked. Just be certain to not be the first person to play it, since if a “Sporcle friend” of yours plays it next, you’ll need to brace yourself for the ensuing taunts. Anyways, I’m not ashamed. I’d click “Monster Mash” right from the start!
Toby123 : May 8th, 2012 at 19:46 GMT 1 point Imagine hearing these one after another... aaaaaaaah my ears...
mrpotwtf69 : May 8th, 2012 at 19:57 GMT 0 points I'm glad I haven't listened to most of these. I don't know what would have happened if I did.
MovieGuru : May 8th, 2012 at 21:45 GMT 2 points @needapausebutton... what's "sporcle friend" supposed to mean?! I thought we were close...
shackcha : May 8th, 2012 at 22:05 GMT 1 point okay some of these songs are kind of wonderful! do wah diddy? a 1964 classic. sugar sugar, while cheesy is not at all in the same category as some of these songs, i am proud to love that song! some of these are right on though.
Comment below threshold: show it Tom007 : May 8th, 2012 at 22:06 GMT -5 points Don't Stop Believing is a terrible, and terribly overplayed song. It needs to be on here.
rockgolf : May 8th, 2012 at 22:09 GMT 4 points @Tom007: Alas, like every other Journey single, DSB failed to reach #1 on the Hot 100.
torerodrizzle : May 8th, 2012 at 22:34 GMT 4 points I might have to spend some time just clicking hollaback girl over and over again, what a painfully terrible song. I even enjoy some No Doubt.
needapausebutton : May 9th, 2012 at 00:02 GMT 2 points @MovieGuru: No, no, I'm saying that taunts are a GOOD thing! ;)
Ironstamp : May 9th, 2012 at 00:05 GMT 4 points I found 1 of the 3 that instantly came to mind: We Built this City, the worst song ever. I would have liked to have been able to vote for Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" and Kenny Loggin's "Footloose," too.
chriskotx : May 9th, 2012 at 01:33 GMT 0 points The first song to come along that had no business being #1 was Funky Town - Lipps Inc. 1980. I knew that pop music was never going to recover from being diminished in quality by disco in the late 70's. I didn't see it here, so I voted for Shake Yo' Booty.
A_Trep : May 9th, 2012 at 02:55 GMT 3 points I don't understand why you would make this quiz without allowing the maximum amount of time if you suggest that people click give up after they've chosen their answers anyway. I was probably 2/3 down the list... there's a lot of deliberating going on in my head along with a bad case of slowreadingness. Now I have to start at the bottom and hope I have time to vote for the others towards the top that were just as terrible because I know I'm not going to retake this quiz and not click Ice Ice Baby. It would ruin the statistics of how terrible that song really is compared to the ones I missed the first time around.
A_Trep : May 9th, 2012 at 02:55 GMT 1 point And now that I've had my rant... Great quiz. Very fun. Very original coming up with a poll.
Pogues : May 9th, 2012 at 04:19 GMT 2 points I couldn't agree more with A_Trep...I finished the quiz and still had about 50 songs to get through. Nonsense if you want a "poll". I've never taken a poll in my life in which I did not have enough time to complete. Pollsters want to get as much information as possible. Why limit the time?
KansasJayhawk : May 9th, 2012 at 06:34 GMT 3 points @chriskotx: I definitely agree with that choice.
I know tastes vary, but I'm surprised so many dislike "96 Tears".
photogirl : May 9th, 2012 at 10:40 GMT 3 points So many awful songs, so little time. (Actually, it was just enough time.) I decided that I must be discriminating--yes, most of these songs were incontrovertible evidence of the awful taste of the listening public (present sporclers excluded). But as far as the worst of the worst went, I decided to choose the ones that, if I were driving and heard the opening notes, would leave me no other option than to change the station. Oh Stevie Wonder, how could you be so great otherwise but have such crappy #1's?
rockgolf : May 9th, 2012 at 11:20 GMT 3 points I was trying to limit your toxic exposure, but time has now increased from 6 minutes to 10. Be sure to cleanse thoroughly after completing.
