@BrettCaudill: Michael Bolton has won TWO Grammys. That is all. Paul Simon has won TEN--6 as part of Simon & Garfunkel and 4 on his own. Aretha Franklin has won 18, including 8 in a row for Best Female R&B Vocal performance. The point is that songs and artists are recognized for the recordings (and most typically, the most popular recordings) of a given year. Bolton was recognized for two particular songs in two different years. OTOH, he's been nominated several other times, only to walk away empty-handed.
@Alexei: Well, given the fact the Baha Men won for "Best Dance Recording," it's not like their Grammy is all that undeserved. Nor does it mean their Grammy is all that important. (The most important Grammy awards are the Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist. Best Dance Recording has about as much meaning as Best Hawai'ian Music Recording or Best Native American Music Recording in the scheme of things.) |
