If you can identify another Oscar winner set in a specific year and not overlapping the years in this quiz, post it in a comment.

This might be a good cross link, and if there's overlap in your quiz it might show up in here:

The Godfather runs a number of years--don't think the answer you have is for a majority or even a plurality of the movie.

As the instructions indicate, for films taking place over a number of years, the year of the film's climax is referenced. In the case of The Godfather, this would be the time of the baptism.

You could maybe add Around the World in 80 Days or The Hurt Locker.

Going by the "climax of the movie" standard, you could include Gandhi, where the central event (highlighted at both the start and end of the film) is his assassination in 1948. Similarly, 1918 for All Quiet on the Western Front. The book Around the World in 80 Days is set in 1872; the movie implicitly agrees with that chronology.

Also, two quibbles/corrections: (1) As noted elsewhere, Cimarron is spelled with one m, two rs and (2) I would argue that the climax of GWTW is the burning of Atlanta, which takes place in 1864.
