My favorite song of all time. Finally, I can make use of knowing all the lyrics.

Damn. I've heard the Weird Al parody "The Saga Begins" so many times, that I forgot the lyrics to the original song :)

I love that this needed to be split into two quizzes.

@CrimsonE: A local radio station did a parody with this song and that's all I could remember. Wondered why vendor boys didn't work. :)

Shouldn't it be spelled "broncking"? Like how "panic" becomes "panicking"? I think you should at least accept some alternate spellings...

He clearly makes a pun on "Lenin read a book on Marx" and "Lennon read a book on marks," they could be alternate answers?

Especially since he mentions "the quartet" in the next line.

@Wareraw: I agree, but I don't understand your complaint. The quiz has
always
accepted Lennon as an alternate answer for Lenin, but I'm displaying what's listed at the DonMcLean.com site.

That's weird if that's what listed on DonMcLean.com, although that is what all the lyrics sites say. I've always understood it to be "Lennon read a book on Marx." That's what makes sense, otherwise he's suddenly singing about something that happened in the 1890s or early 1900s.

What about "the three men I admire most, the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost, caught the last train for the coast the day the music died."

@Noreddawn: That's in Part 2. There's a link at the top of the quiz.

@moviegoer74 Lenin reading a book on Marx is an allegory for Lennon introducing liberal messages into the Beatles (quartet) music

Most games I'd feel as if I was 'cheating' if I tried them again a few weeks later since there's always going to be one of two answers that u didn't get initially but wd. remember, but this is one where I cd. play it every few weeks bcoz I knew a lot more but cdn't type quickly enuf on my iPad. Still one of the greatest and most discussed songs ever in rock n roll.
