| Great idea, tons of great songs on that list, and with plenty of room for a sequel. Looks like your rule is that the song had to be released officially as a single, and not just an album cut (which would exclude "Stairway To Heaven" and a lot of other rock classics.) That still leaves some gray area though -- lots of familiar Beatles' B-sides charted on their own but way below their A-sides; ditto for Fogerty's "Centerfield". Most very familiar, early Green Day songs never charted on the BB Hot 100. Plenty more from the British Invasion bands, or original versions of Motown songs later (badly) covered, like "Knock On Wood". Well done. |
