I typed in "Football" and got "Athlete". I gotta be honest. I was thinking a baby dressed up as an actual football...

I also got thrown off by the Tinkerbell thing. I didnt guess her, because I figured/thought she was included under "Disney Princess". I looked it up and apparently she used to be until a few years ago. Learn something new every day.

@folio1701: I think he's covered in one of the Adult costume categories. I'll create that quiz if there's enough demand on this one.
There's also a "most popular pet costumes". Really. Pet costumes. And here's the kicker: in the top 10 of the pet costumes are "cat" and "dog". So either people are dressing their cats up as dogs or dressing their cats as other cats. I can't decide which is more wrong.

Good fun! Rockgolf... you forgot your national pastime on the athlete one. Tsk. That was a staple for me and my Canadian friends at Halloween.

@mrChew: Yeah, I tried dressing up as a hockey player for Halloween back when I was a kid, but let me tell you, getting up and down all those driveways in skates really dulls the ol' blades.

Ugh, i'm an admirer of you rockgolf but i'm afraid this isn't one of your best or most well thought out quizzes., the source may say so but i find it simply stupid that a princess sits in first place for this one. I have also reported you for your negative and unappropriate comment towards TonyAdams10, i did not expect that from an editor.

Finally some justice in the world, thank you sporcle admins for deleting rockgolf's obscene, unappropriate sexually orientated comment aimed at my good friend TonyAdams10. Thank you and well done sporcle admins.

I didn't get any of the animal ones. I kept trying cool animals like lions, dinosaurs, and sharks.... but I was so off. ._.

Lame. "Princess," "Superhero," "Fairy," and "Animated character" are listed generically, as well as applying to specific characters?

Yeah pretty lame quiz. Nice idea, but the descriptions are so generic as to be meaningless. And what's the point of including "other" as a category? No one is going to get a clue from "other".

No offense to the quiz maker but Sporcle's standard for published quizzes is getting lower and lower. Not only are the answer and clue columns flawed (as mentioned above) but the rankings aren't proper IMO. It shouldn't go 7, T8, T8, 9, it should go 7, T8, T8, 10 should it not? Just a minor thing but point being Sporcle is getting sloppy.

No Skeleton? Nobody is going as a skeleton anymore? You're telling me you take 100 kids and maybe one of them is dressed as a skeleton? Just saying, skeleton is a classic.

You have to be more specific with costume, for star wars i was naming every character i knew. Monster, Princess animated character action super hero are all bad costumes because its not specific. Say Group from a movie series or simply movie series

For rankings it shouldn't go "T8, T8, 9" it should be "T8, T8, 10"

I agree with all these criticisms, but they should be directed at the source who carried out the survey, not the quiz maker. The list is faithfully transcribed from its source (including the weird way of handling ties). I say boo to BIGresearch!

I agree with pat5547 - it's the source that's poor. I suppose it could be argued that a better source would have lead to a better quiz ... I wonder how different this list would be if it was from the UK - here, everyone dresses up as witches, spiders, ghosts etc not just generic fancy dress.

Just to add to the complaints, how do you have "action/super hero" as an answer, but then specficially "Batman", "Superman", "Ironman" etc.... then "princess" and "disney princess"? I think they just rushed this to get it out for Halloween.
