maybe Platoon would be more well-guessed if Charlie Sheen had "won" top-billing...

I much prefer the layout of the 70s quiz, with the years going down instead of side-to-side. Either way, I'm already looking forward to 90s and 00s.

@dld: I'd love to oblige on the 90's & 00's, but the book was published in 1996.

What does it say about originality and risk taking in Hollywood when 16 of these 50 movies were sequels?

accept just "temple of doom, last crusade, first blood 2 or first blood part 2". you shouldn't have to put Indiana Jones or Rambo

Boxofficemojo.com has the '90s and '00s - and slightly different numbers than these listed here.

I saw Wargames, but I honestly don't recall Matthew Broderick or Dabney Coleman very much. All available postadolescent male resources were trained on Ally Sheedy for two hours.

I'm surprised ET is so low. The stars may not be very recognizable, but the movie was so huge during the 80s.

Surely 'Last Crusade' or 'temple of doom' in enough.

Not putting Drew Barrymore as one of the stars of E.T. is misleading.

Man that was frustrating. Trying to figure out what would be accepted for the indiana jones movies, star wars movies, which star trek movie came out THAT year, etc... Ended up running out of time before seeing some of the questions.

Few problems with what exactly is accepted as some of the answers, other than that it's a really fun quiz.

Great trip down Memory Lane! A few too many sequels, but then, that WAS the '80s.

If the clue for #5 in 1980 was "Clint Eastwood and an orangutang" many more people would've gotten it. :)

Knowledge of subject 100%. Typing out (and spelling correctly) long full movie titles under time pressure 50%. Make this quiz multiple choice and give me 1 minute. THAT'S the Chicago way!

I'm not sure why the complaints about numbers in titles. I've tried to set up every variant possible. For example, one of the answers is set up as "The Karate Kid, Part II/karate kid 2/karate kid part 2/karate kid ii", and I tried to do similar variations with other numbered movies. Can you indicate a specific combination that didn't work?

@heather: Nope, the movie was only titled "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in theaters. I was lucky enough to win tickets to a sneak preview, and I went in with absolutely no idea what the film was about. Zilch. Only that it starred on of the people from Star Wars. I don't think it will ever be possible to replicate that sensation again.

Won't accept "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" and also won't accept just "The Voyage Home." This just seems inconsistent. It doesn't feel right! Liked the quiz in concept though.

Like someone said before: very long Names to type plus the scrolling. So add a Couple of Minutes. These Quizzes should be about Knowledge, not a Race against Time. Keep on the good Work.

@rockgolf...most other quizzes involving the indiana jones movies as answers accept just Temple of Doom and Last Crusade. Some of us are not good typists and run out of time. I got all but one because I did run out of time. I say just add more time then it's easier to give the proper titles. Good quiz though

Good quiz, very fun and brough back tons of memories. For Ford/Connery I couldn't get Hunt for Red October out of my head. Then I remembered Ford played that charachter but not in that movie. Harrison Ford was the man in the 80's.

I find it kind of sad that of all the incredible movies Eastwood has made, the one that apparently made the most money in the 80s was that one. Kind of sums up the 80s.
