Yes, I didn't put in any song called simply "America". Do you realize how many songs there are with that name and how many artists have performed songs by that title? Neil Diamond, Yes, Simon & Garfunkel, Prince, The Nice, The KLF, David Essex, Razorlight...
If you can think of more, give yourself a point.

Great quiz, the color scheme is just a little hard on the eyes when reading the artists.

I know just U.S. is usually an acceptable answer, but for this quiz I think you definitely should have to type the "A" since that is what this quiz is about.

It's a bug in the Sprocle editor. It strips the ".a." from the answer so as soon as you type in US - bang - up comes the answer.

Miley Cyrus? Really?!?!?!? Still a great quiz despite that.

Why add Madonna to "American Pie"? Lots of the other songs on there have done better cover versions than Madonna (ex. Lenny Kravitz's American Woman) but those aren't included.

I know the year doesn't match up, but could you consider the possibility of adding "I'm Afraid of Americans" as an alternate answer for David Bowie?

Thought I might see "Only In AMERICA" by Jay and the AMERICANS come up as a bonus answer. For the colour scheme, I think white on red might work better, but I never got any style points for my colours either...

Don't you dare say "Don McLean or Madonna". "American Pie" is Don McLean, period. That cover should be erased from the memory of everyone who ever knew of its existence. The original is a classic, and it stands alone.

I concur with Kicking222. Including Madonna's cover with Don McLean's song is an insult to the original song.

I didn't even know Madonna did a cover of American Pie. I doubt Madonna remembers it.

Nice quiz, though if it were up to me I'd remove the Madonna reference from American Pie. American Pie is Don McLean's song, period.

Charlie Daniels has a bunch of songs with America in the title. Seems like they should be alternative answers to the one listed or bonus answers.

As dxman alluded too, I've also done an expanded version of this quiz with audioclips. This quiz is sooo 2009! ;-)
You can try it at
http://www.sporcle.com/games/rockgolf/The_Star_Sp0rcled_Banner - and when you see the video, you'll understand the name.

Weird thing, when I voted up people on this quiz it gave them two extra points instead of one. This site is screwy sometimes!

@deathbanana: That's because there is no song called "Ain't That America" by John Mellencamp. You're thinking of "Pink Houses". (Which, nonetheless
is
in the audio version of the quiz.)
