| College preseason rankings are pointless and only cause the later, more important rankings to mean less. For example, let's hypothetically say that LSU gets beat in a close game by Rice in week one, not suggesting that that would ever happen but according to the ranking system LSU would still be ranked higher than Rice, but why? Because we ranked what we thought they were, and when we found out they weren't as good as we thought, we still would like to keep them in the top. Overall, my point of view is that we can have preseason rankings, but just make sure that after week one we start to make RADICAL changes to the rankings to get a closer and closer mould of who the best two teams are. |
