| Very interesting quiz. Learned some new things. But the answer to this question troubles me: name the country "that contains every type of climate in the world." New Zealand has a pretty uniform climate compared to many other countries. Under the Koppen Climate Classification System it is considered to be entirely Cfb, a type of temperate/mesothermal climate (Group C), more specifically a Maritime Temperate climate or Oceanic climate. I don't know where New Zealand has a tropical climate, a desert climate, a continental climate or a polar climate (some of the other main categories of the Koppen Climate Classification System, Groups A, B, D, and E, respectively). Even if I were to accept that New Zealand has these types of regions, or if I were persuaded that you were using an informal, perhaps less technical, definition of climate, my question would then be: what type of climate in the world is missing from the US but present in New Zealand? The US contains a tropical climate in Hawaii, a desert climate in Arizona, a temperate climate in Washington state, a continental climate in Iowa, and a polar climate in Alaska. If you are convinced that New Zealand has every climate in the world, you must at least admit that so does the US. New Zealand may possibly be the smallest country to have every climate in the world but it's certainly not the only one to meet that qualification, however you may be defining that term. |
